Dr. Ramzi

Dr. Ramzi is an orthodontist, specifically specializing in Invisalign. In fact, 85% of the cases at his practice are done with Invisalign! While he initially thought his practice would primarily specialize in metal braces, he found that Invisalign were the most sought out treatment. He is a strong believer in the future of Invisalign and its impact on orthodontics in the years to come, but believes that it will not take over the role of orthodontists as treatment is most effective when it is overseen by a professional. He became interested in the profession after being interested in his  orthodontist when he was going through orthodontic treatment. Dr. Ramzi was fascinated by how his orthodontist was able to own and operate his own practice and "be his own boss".

Dr. Ramzi's favorite part of being an orthodontist is having the independence of leading his own practice, which comes with making his own hours. He is rewarded by being able to see his patients smile after they complete orthodontic treatment. Also, he believes that orthodontics is not as stressful as other careers in the medical field, which also drew him to this profession. In particular, Dr. Ramzi was specifically drawn to orthodontics as it is a crossover between "art and science". He says that it requires you to think about what the best approach to treatment is in order to ensure the best, aesthetic results. He opened his own practice roughly 5 years ago with his wife, completely remodeling the building that it is currently located in, instead of taking over a pre-existing practice.

Dr. Jessica Cohen

Dr. Jessica Cohen is an orthodontist, who specializes in both Invisalign and traditional braces. She first became interested in the dental field as a result of the exposure her dad, who worked as a general dentist, gave her. However, she was particularly drawn to orthodontics because of the confidence boost orthodontic treatment gave her once she completed braces. Dr. Jessica Cohen attended Midwestern Dental School in Illinois, where she met many of her current colleagues and friends. She is known for her beautiful office and prides herself in its style.

In particular, she finds orthodontics to be a very rewarding profession because, as she and her co-workers say, orthodontics is a "life-changing experience" because of the way it can change your self perception and the confidence patients gain after treatment. Additionally, she has found that orthodontics has taught her patience as she excitedly waits for her patients to see their new smiles after treatment. She particularly enjoys getting to know her patients and their families. In fact, she has several parents undergoing orthodontic treatment at the same time as their children, allowing her to connect with the entire family!

Dr. Neal

Even while Dr. Neal was growing up, he had his heart set on the dental field. He was first inclined to pursue a career in the dental field because his father was a general dentist, but he encouraged him to explore other specialties within the dental field. After shadowing and working in his father's and several specialists' offices, Dr. Neal was left deciding between oral surgery and orthodontics. However, he ultimately chose to pursue a career in orthodontics after he graduated from dental school. For dental school, Dr. Neal attended a 3+4 program, where he completed 3 years of undergrad at Wagner College and planned on going through dental school at NYU, but he was accepted to UIC's dental school and decided to return home to the Chicagoland area for dental school.

Initially, Dr. Neal wanted to find a partner to start an orthodontic practice with. However, during a time of recession, few people wanted to undergo orthodontic treatment and sell their practice, which made it quite difficult for Dr. Neal to start his own practice. Despite this, he came across a great location and opened up the practice he has today.  During the early years of his practice, he put great emphasis on networking with dentists as well as other professionals in the field in order to spread the word about his practice. Currently, Dr. Neal's favorite part about being an orthodontist is "knowing what he is doing," he has really enjoyed teaching and working with all of his assistants so that they can truly work as a team to give his patients the best treatment possible.

Going forward, Dr. Neal believes that there will be a place for both braces and clear aligners to coexist, as, based upon the case, one option may be better for a patient than another. Additionally, Dr. Neal has been using a relatively new technology that is able to 3D print brackets. This is beneficial because it created custom brackets tailored for specific patients teeth, therefore, making treatment more efficient.

Dr. Rohini

Dr. Rohini was inspired to be an orthodontist by her parents, who were both in the medical field, but doctors. They steered Dr. Rohini towards dentistry because of the better hours and ability to own your own practice. She had some uncles who were dentists, so she shadowed them and realized that she was interested in the dental field. However, during dental school she found out that she preferred orthodontics to general dentistry. Once she finished orthodontic residency, she worked as an independent consultant, but, wanted to have more control over her hours, prompting her to open her own practice. Dr. Rohini was able to find a welcoming location and decided to open her practice there. Once the practice was ready to be opened, she got right to work by networking with dentists and sponsoring community events.

Dr. Rohini has found orthodontics to be an extremely rewarding career path and has especially enjoyed being able to get to know and connect with all of her patients and their families. She has had the privilege to work with many siblings and even their parents, allowing her to develop a close connection with her patients.

Dr. Silberman and Dr. Marsek

Dr. Silberman

Growing up, Dr. Silberman knew that he wanted to be in the medical field, but wanted more flexible hours, so dentistry was the perfect profession for him! He has been the owner of his practice for over 30 years, which he acquired from a retiring dentist, and the place where he is located has housed a dental practice since about 1980.  While his children were growing up, he especially appreciated having flexible hours because he could go to their school events during the day.

Dr. Silberman finds dentistry extremely rewarding because it gives him the opportunity to make patients smile and grow in confidence. He is also very invested in education: he partners with Northwestern University and allows pre-dental students to shadow in his office in order to help them better understand the profession! When Dr. Silberman opened his practice, he had to ensure that efficient systems were in place to ensure that his practice was as orderly as possible.  He found that being open and communicating with his staff during the early years of his practice was crucial to its success.

Dr. Marsek

Dr. Marsek graduated from dental school 3 years ago during COVID. At first, he worked in a corporate job, but knew that he wanted to work in a smaller office. Dr. Silberman provided him with the perfect opportunity! Similar to Dr. Silberman, Dr. Marsek always wanted to go into a field where he could help make a positive impact on patients and ultimately chose dentistry. Specifically, he chose dentistry because during high school he participated in theatre and loved putting a smile on people's faces. Dentistry provided him with the perfect outlet to continue putting smiles on people's faces! While he found dental school to be difficult, he really appreciates all of the connections that he made during his time there. He found that many people he studied with became friends with one another and Dr. Marsek enjoys the fact that his is still close to them. Since his time in dental school, he has become very fascinated by the constant evolution of the dental field and the technology involved.
